James is a Principal Associate in our Real Estate Energy team specialising in the site development, sale, acquisition and financing of renewable energy projects. James advises developers, funders and investors of all major clean energy technologies including wind (onshore and offshore), solar (ground based and commercial and residential rooftop), wave and tidal, biomass, anaerobic digestion, battery storage as well as related projects including infrastructure and interconnector schemes for major national and international clients.

James advises wind farm developers on schemes ranging from onshore single turbine feed-in-tariff installations to Contracts for Difference schemes that are some of the largest offshore projects in the world. After a secondment to the legal team at a major utility, James continues to advise in relation to offshore wind farm projects involving advice on various real estate matters connected with some of the largest offshore renewable energy projects. Most recently James advised on the real estate aspects of the sale of a 41% stake in an offshore wind farm to Japanese investors as well as simultaneously advising the wind farm developer on the £1 billion+ financing involving a consortium of fifteen banks.

James advises banks and equity investors in the financing and acquisition of such schemes. James has advised international investors/developers of solar schemes in jurisdictions such as Jordan and Bangladesh.
