Kunal is a triple qualified lawyer in the Eversheds Sutherland tax team. He is qualified to practice in England and Wales, Ireland and the State of New York (USA). He advises on all types of tax disputes and focusses on international tax disputes (including litigations and cross-border investigations) and has worked with clients on a range of matters including judicial reviews on tax matters, discrimination claims, VAT litigations, cross-border investigations, Schedule 36 information requests and the Criminal Finances Act amongst others. Kunal has a special interest in tax discrimination matters under EU law, double tax treaties, bilateral investment treaties and other international instruments.
Kunal also advises on non-contentious tax matters including bilateral and multilateral instruments, funds taxation, blockchain and cryptocurrencies, corporate tax and other matters.
Kunal obtained an MSc in Taxation from the University of Oxford focussing on international tax, where he graduated with a distinction. Kunal also obtained an LLB (Hons) from University College London, where he won the Chartered Institute of Taxation (London Branch) Prize. He routinely contributes articles to leading tax publications and daily publications on international tax matters and tax policy.
Kunal was recently listed as a Rising Star in the Legal 500 rankings for Tax Litigation and Investigations and noted for his focus on international tax disputes.
