Practice notes

Mariya is an associate in our Construction and Engineering group, specialising in construction matters.

She has assisted on a range of matters involving various forms of dispute resolution: mediation, international arbitration, adjudication and court litigation.

Her recent experience includes: assisting the team in acting for an engineering contractor as respondent in LCIA proceedings (EUR50m claim) in relation to the supply and maintenance of a gas power plant; assisting on a major PFI restructuring involving the NHS Trust for a project worth £335m; co-ordinating the first in a series of adjudications on behalf of a major real-estate developer relating to a luxury residential development in central London; assisting with the preparation for a mediation concerning a power and water contract in Qatar; and supporting on other adjudication and litigation proceedings.

Mariya can assist with transactional construction work, having previously supported on a major development funding project and advised on the negotiation of consultant appointments, novation agreements and warranties.

Mariya also has experience of general commercial contracts work and continues to deliver general commercial and regulatory advice and support as part of her practice. She has recently spent six months on secondment at a multinational technology company where she was supporting the UK operations and last-mile delivery businesses as part of the in-house legal team.
