Kirstie is an associate in our corporate and commercial team at the Melrose Arch office in Johannesburg. Kirstie obtained her Bcom (majoring in accounting) and LLB degrees from Stellenbosch University. During her LLB degree, Kirstie spent a semester at Antwerp University in Belgium on an exchange programme where she focused on company law and international law. Kirstie completed her articles of clerkship with Eversheds Sutherland in 2019 and was admitted as an attorney of the High Court in October 2020.
Kirstie’s relevant experience includes:
• Mergers and acquisitions (drafting of sale of shares, sale of business, sale of assets and legal due diligence investigations);
• Corporate (corporate resolutions, shareholder agreements and memoranda of incorporation)
• Drafting a variety of commercial contracts such as lease agreements, cession agreements, letters of intent, intercreditor agreements and confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements;
• Reviewing and providing advice on general commercial contracts such as customer contracts, non-disclosure agreements, service agreements, supply agreements, and sub-contractor agreements;
• Collation, review and submission of tender submissions;
• Consumer protection (advice and compliance);
• Privacy, data privacy and cybersecurity (advice and compliance);
• Cross-border transactions; and
• Various employment law matters (retrenchments, section 197 transfers of employees in sales of businesses, conducting investigations into misconduct and/or poor performance, prosecuting disciplinary hearings and assisting with arbitrations in the CCMA).
