Patrick is a Principal Associate in our construction and engineering team specialising in contentious and non contentious work. His clients include developers, lenders, local authorities, special purpose vehicles and main contractors.
Patrick advises on procurement methods and building contracts and has particular experience of the JCT, ICE, GC Works and NEC forms. Patrick regularly advises on the drafting of professional appointments, collateral warranties, novations, bonds, guarantees and framework agreements.
His focus is major infrastructure projects. Recent experience includes advising:
- Highways England on its transition to managed motorways
- HS2 on diversionary works and the protection of utility company apparatus
- HS2 on the Phase 1 ground investigation works, the project’s first major procurement
- DfT on updating the HS1 Concession Agreement
On the contentious side, Patrick's experience includes bringing and defending claims in the Technology and Construction Court, statutory and contractual adjudication and resolving disputes by way of mediation, conciliation and expert determination.
