Gen is a Senior Associate in the Litigation and Dispute Management team, specialising in Commercial Dispute Resolution.
Gen advises on a wide range of commercial disputes and contractual claims across a number of industries and has particular expertise in the IT and telecommunications sector.
Gen’s recent IT and telecommunications disputes experience includes:
- Acting for a large UK software supplier in a dispute with a major public sector body concerning the failed design and implementation of an IT solution
- Regularly advising a number of organisations in relation to software licensing disputes and outsourcing / managed services disputes
- Regularly acting for a major insurer in defending suppliers against a variety of negligence and breach of contract claims, including (i) defending a claim in relation to the supplier’s development of a case management system and deployed on the claimant's existing Sage platform; (ii) defending a claim concerning the supplier’s failed delivery of an IT infrastructure upgrade and migration project; (iii) defending a claim in relation to the provision of web development services by the supplier. Responsible for drafting urgent applications to set aside default judgment and stay the execution of a High Court writ; and (iv) defending a claim in relation to the supplier’s provision of a customer relationship management solution to a property lettings company
- Acting for a global developer of technology and TV/broadband products in relation to misuse of sensitive customer and supplier information by a former employee, including issuing an urgent application for delivery up of various electronic devices belonging to the employee and subsequently pursuing a claim for injunctive relief for breach of restrictive covenants and misuse of confidential information
- Advising a global telecommunications provider in a dispute with a US satellite provider concerning services provided to a customer in the UAE
Other recent experience includes:
- Acting on a £200m dispute concerning the reduction of solar panel feed-in tariffs in October 2011
- Acting on a multi-million pound breach of contract claim for a Saudi based company relating to the supply of mineral separating machines for both silica sand and limestone processing
