Sukces Pokemon Go wywołał nieoczekiwane konsekwencje na rynku pracy. Wszystko dlatego, że wirtualny świat Pokemonów może wpłynąć, i to nie zawsze pozytywnie, na relację pracownik – pracodawca. Niektórzy gracze wciągają sie w kuszący świat "augmented reality" tak bardzo, że trudno im oddzielić obowiązki trenera Pokemonów od obowiązków w realnym świecie.
