Webinar. Inclusion of license fees into customs value of goods: mitigation options regarding historical and current import risks
- Russia
11-03-2021
Description:
Eversheds Sutherland is continuing its series of webinars keeping you updated on the legal aspects of doing business in Russia.
On 25 February 2021, the Accounts Chamber published a report on the inspection of the full payment of customs duties when importing goods classified as intellectual property into the Russian Federation. The auditor came to the conclusion that foreign trade participants underestimated the customs value of imported goods in the amount of 98.5 billion rubles. At present, an information exchange mechanism has been established between the regulatory authorities which contributes to the timely receipt by the Federal Customs Service of information on registered rights and the identification of facts aiding the prevention of non-inclusion of license fees in the import costs. Under such conditions, importers of goods must pay special attention to the issue of determining the import value of goods brought into the customs territory of the EAEU that fall into the category of intellectual property.
