Qatari move should spur investors to revisit UK infrastructure opportunities
- Qatar
- Construction and engineering
14-03-2013
Commenting on news that Qatar has begun talks with the UK government to invest up to £10bn into key infrastructure projects, Michael Conroy Harris, construction expert at global law firm Eversheds, says:
“Much has already been said about the benefit to the UK construction industry and wider economy of kick-starting infrastructure. To date, the single biggest issue has been a lack of funding sources and while sovereign wealth has long been mooted as a potential option, such investment is often associated with completed assets. This move will take Qatari investment in the UK to another level and highlight the significant potential for investors to get amongst infrastructure investment when it’s still on the drawing board."
